Stoneware Animals Etc.
Artisan: John W. Quinn

I graduated from the University of Illinois with a Fine Arts Degree. I worked as a Commercial Artist for 40 years; I took a night course in pottery at Deerfield High School. I started out making pots, vases, bowls, cups etc. on the wheel. I then started making animals and figures with my hands and now I don't do anything on the wheel any more. The animals and figures are made out of stoneware clay and fired to about 2100 degrees. After the firing they are painted with acrylics and finished with two coats of clear urethane. I do glaze some things and that is done before the clay is fired.
