The purposes of the not-for-profit LF-LBAG are to encourage creativity, exchange new ideas, and develop camaraderie among artisans living in the Lake Forest and Lake Bluff area; promote an appreciation of the cottage arts; inspire ourselves and others to use the cottage arts as a means of self-expression; provide educational opportunities in an effort to improve our skills and the quality of our endeavors and to offer venues for the exhibition of our original designs.

For the purposes of the LF-LBAG, an artisan is defined as a person who practices an art in which conception and execution are governed by manual skill, imagination and taste.

In November of 2005, The Lake Forester announced, “Local knitters, ceramists, jewelers and weavers who quietly practice their hobbies at home, making gifts and filling basements with their handiwork, have banded together to form the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Artisan Guild.”

Aside from supporting local artisans and giving area residents the chance to purchase their work, a portion of the proceeds from each show goes to a selected Lake Forest-Lake Bluff charity and members frequently donate items to benefit the silent auctions of numerous other local charities. To date, the Guild has raised over $100,000 for local charities through these efforts.
